Goddard Park Primary School is committed to the promotion of welfare and safeguarding of all children and expects all staff and visitors to share this commitment.

In order to ensure the safety of all children in our care, we are required to follow the Child Protection Procedures as agreed by the Local Education Authority. We will endeavour to share with parents/guardians any concerns we may have regarding any injuries noted or other specific issues regarding the welfare of their child. We will keep a record of any concerns raised and will share them with the parents/guardians if it is appropriate to do so.

We do have a duty to refer to Social Care if we suspect a child is at risk of significant harm. If we make a referral to Social Care we will inform the parents/guardians concerned; unless to do so would place the child at increased risk of significant harm. Our first concern will always be the welfare of the child.

Swindon Borough Council follows the guidance set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2023 relating to safer recruitment processes. All professionals who visit Goddard Park Primary School and have unsupervised regular access to children and young people must have had the relevant pre-employment checks carried out, including DBS checks.

All school system are run and maintained in house with appropriate filtering and restrictions in place to limit what students and staff are able to access. E-safety plays a large role in the PSHE and Computing Curriculum which is developed by our Computing Team led by Alison Westlake-Webb.

We also offer help and advice during parent’s evenings and through Safer Internet newsletters. .

We have also tracked our curriculum for all elements of safeguarding taught across the school. We have used the "Keeping Children Safe in Education" document to produce our own "Keeping Children Safe in our Curriculum" document. You can read it here:
