At Goddard Park Geography is a key to spark the children’s curiosity about the World. We want the children to develop as global citizens, with a sense of responsibility for and understanding of the World and its people.
Geography can nurture the following skills:
- Investigate and develop understanding of the physical and human features of their surroundings and the wider world.
- Develop enquiry skills and ability to handle and interpret information, through asking and answering questions.
- Use virtual and physical atlas', maps and globes to locate places.
- Identify and understand about environmental and sustainable development.
Alongside other topics, the school's links with the Desai School in Nairobi, Kenya are reflected in the Geography taught. Every year group will study an aspect of Kenya each year and whole school activities will take place. Across the school children will learn about life in Kenya, including: the food, the animals, the environment, the climate and what life is like for children in Kenya.
